About this place
Botev Shelter is located in the Polyankata area, on the western side of Botev Peak, and is one of the most important high-mountain facilities in the Central Balkan.
It stands at a key junction between the E3 ridge route, the approach from Dobrila Hut and the route from Pleven Hut toward Botev Peak.
Unlike a typical emergency shelter, Botev is a managed facility offering overnight accommodation and considerably more amenities.
Access
From Pleven Hut – approximately 2:30 h.
From Botev Peak – approximately 40–45 min.
From Vasil Levski Hut – approximately 3:30 h.
The shelter is located directly beside major marked high-mountain routes.
Important
Weather conditions around Botev Peak can change extremely quickly.
In winter, the approaches to the shelter may be icy, heavily wind-loaded and exposed to avalanche danger.
Do not rely on available beds without checking in advance, especially during weekends and holidays.
