Route
Gergiitsa Peak rises on the Sinanitsa side ridge of Pirin, west of Banderishka Porta. The area is open and distinctly high-mountain, with grassy and rocky slopes and broad views toward Muratov Peak, Sinanitsa, Vihren and the inner Pirin range.
The route starts at Vihren Hut, passes Muratovo Lake and Banderishka Porta, and then continues toward Sinanitsa. The final ascent is over unmarked terrain where small stone cairns can be found in places.
Experienced hikers may combine the return with Muratov Peak, but this is a longer and more demanding option. The standard return follows the same route back.
Access
From Vihren Hut, follow the blue-yellow markings toward Muratovo Lake and Banderishka Porta. The trail gradually gains elevation through dwarf pine and open high-mountain terrain before reaching Muratovo Lake.
From the lake, continue uphill toward Banderishka Porta. The climb gradually becomes steeper and rockier, while views across the Banderishki cirque open up with elevation.
At Banderishka Porta, do not turn toward Muratov Peak. Continue on the blue-marked trail toward Sinanitsa Hut. After some distance, leave the marked trail and begin the ascent toward Gergiitsa.
The final section follows an open grassy and rocky slope. There is no standard trail marking, but small stone cairns can be found in places and help with orientation. The terrain becomes rockier near the summit.
Returning by the same route is the clearest option. In good weather, and with enough experience and time, the hike can also be combined with Muratov Peak, but this makes the route longer and adds more unmarked high-mountain terrain.

An old Pirin folk legend links Gergiitsa, Muratov Peak and Sinanitsa. In one version, the young woman Gergiitsa flees from Murat Bey and dies on the mountain. Only afterward does he discover from an amulet she was carrying that they were brother and sister, while the name Sinanitsa is associated with their mother. The story is one of several folk explanations for the names of the neighboring peaks and should be understood as legend rather than established history.
