Route
The route from Tevno Ezero Shelter to Vihren Hut via the Tipitsite ridge is one of the most panoramic high-mountain traverses in Pirin. A large part of the route follows the main Pirin ridge, providing extensive views towards the lake cirques on both sides.
The route crosses Mozgovishka Porta, Prevala and the long Tipitsite ridge before descending through Bashliyska Porta towards the Banderishki Lakes and Vihren Hut.
There is no technical climbing under normal summer conditions, but the route is long, high and exposed in places. The short narrow ridge section known as Malkoto Konche and the rocky descent towards the Banderishki cirque require particular care.
Access
From Tevno Ezero Shelter, follow the red trail markings westwards. The trail leaves Tevno Ezero and the Belemeto area and gradually approaches Mozgovishka Porta across open high-mountain terrain.
At Mozgovishka Porta several important routes meet. The blue-marked trail descends towards the Prevalski Lakes and Demyanitsa Hut. For Vihren Hut, remain on the red-marked trail following the main Pirin ridge.
Continue from Mozgovishka Porta towards Prevala. Follow the summer paint markings carefully and be aware that the winter marker-pole line may follow a different course in places. Navigation becomes considerably more difficult in fog.
At Prevala, the route crosses a green-marked trail connecting the Prevalski and Chairski cirques. Do not descend along the green trail. Continue on the red markings along the main ridge towards Prevalski Chukar and the Tipitsite peaks.
The trail climbs towards Prevalski Chukar before continuing through the area of Malak Tipits and Golyam Tipits. This is one of the most panoramic parts of the route, with extensive views towards the surrounding lake cirques.
Beyond Golyam Tipits, the ridge briefly narrows at a section commonly known as Malkoto Konche. It is much less severe than the famous Konche ridge below Kutelo, but both sides are steep and the section should be crossed calmly and carefully, particularly in strong wind, wet conditions or poor visibility.
Continue along the Tipitsite ridge through the area of Opreno Peak, always following the red markings. The trail gradually begins to lose elevation and approaches Bashliyska Porta, where it leaves the main ridge towards the Banderishki cirque.
A more substantial descent begins from Bashliyska Porta. The terrain is rocky, with large granite blocks and scree sections. Fatigue may already be significant at this stage of the hike, so descend carefully and avoid rushing.
The trail reaches the upper Banderishki Lakes and continues towards Dalgo Banderishko Lake. Follow the red markings beside the lake and continue towards Zhabeshko Lake.
At Zhabeshko Lake, the green-marked trail arriving from Todorina Porta, the Vasilashki Lakes and Demyanitsa Hut joins the route. From here to Vihren Hut, the red and green markings run together.
Continue downhill through the Banderishki cirque, passing the junction for Ribno Banderishko Lake before entering dwarf pine and reaching the Ravnako area. A short detour here leads to Okoto Lake.
From Ravnako, follow the combined red and green markings downhill along the Banderitsa River. After the final descent and bridge crossing, the trail reaches the rear side of Vihren Hut, where the route ends.
