About this place
The Yakorudski Lakes are a glacial lake group in eastern Rila, situated between Kovach and Suha Vapa peaks.
The principal group is usually represented by the Blue, Fish and Dead lakes. The area is remote and far less visited than the popular western sections of Rila.
Access
AREA: Approaches come from the Yakoruda side and the higher terrain above the Treshtenik area.
PROTECTED AREA: The lake cirque lies within a limited-human-impact zone. Use only currently designated and marked hiking routes.
WATER-CATCHMENT AREA: Water-supply infrastructure, fences and restriction signs may be present. Never cross a fence or enter an area marked as restricted.
BEFORE THE HIKE: Check the current access regime and route status, as restrictions around water-catchment facilities may change.
NAVIGATION: Use BGMountains together with trail markings and do not shortcut through unmarked terrain.
WINTER: The area is high and remote and requires winter mountain experience when snow is present.

The Blue Lake is the highest of the three principal lakes.
The Fish Lake is connected with the headwaters of the Golyama Banenska River.
The Dead Lake is the deepest of the three principal lakes.
Some descriptions of the Yakorudski group also count smaller or seasonal water bodies.
The Yakorudski Lakes cirque forms part of a limited-human-impact zone of Rila National Park.
